Service Packs & Bug Fixes

Microsoft released Windows XP around 2000. Over the years security issues where discovered. ie ways a virus can enter and execute either by web browsing or from emails. Also bugs were discovered and patches were released. Around 2002 Microsoft released SP1 which is a rollup of all the patches for security issues and bug fixes which could be installed in one self contained program. Some years later SP2 was released which was another rollup of 100's of patches. SP2 is what everyone has had installed in their PCs to date. Microsoft just released SP3 which I don't recommend installing yet since patches from SP2 fixed things SP1 broke. But if you would like to go thru the document which details all of the security issues and bug fixes that SP3 will install feel free to look here.
